Our story

A CITY CLUB
WITH A CHIP
ON ITS SHOULDER.

Sydney CBD FC was founded on a simple belief: the heart of the city deserved a football club of its own. A decade later, we're still proving the point.

The beginning

How The D's came to be.

In 2014, two players — Sim Friedman-Bundey and Chris Paton — set out to do something the city had never seriously tried: run a competitive senior football club based in the Sydney CBD. They called it Team CBD, gathered a squad, and got to work.

The debut season was extraordinary. The club reached three major finals, lifted the Sydney Amateur Cup and appeared as Grand Finalists — a historic first for the league. It was a statement of intent that has defined the club ever since.

In 2015 the club moved to The Domain Fields, planted a flag in one of Sydney's most iconic parklands, and stepped up to the national stage with entry into the FFA Cup. In 2016, the club joined the Eastern Suburbs Football Association and began the steady climb to five senior sides.

Since then, the trophy cabinet has grown. Multiple league titles. A Premiership. And a club culture built around the players who live, work and play in the heart of the city.
